Problem Statement
Many novice gym-goers lack adequate knowledge on proper lifting form and recovery. With limited onboarding at gyms and expensive personal training, beginners often train without proper guidance, increasing the risk of injury and stalled progress.
How might we provide accessible, affordable guidance to novice gym-goers so they can learn proper lifting form, recover effectively, and build safe, sustainable workout routines?
Solution
Smart Fitness: An Accessible Weightlifting Guide for Novice Lifters

Ideation Phase
So, how did I do to get here?

Information Architecture
When I first began designing the app, I focused on three core functions: Workout, Learn, and My Activity. This structure allowed me to organize the experience around the user’s primary goals—tracking workouts, building knowledge, and monitoring progress.
Paper Prototyping
When sketching ideas on paper, I focus on identifying the key elements and core functionality each screen needs, rather than worrying about exact layout or visual placement.
Creating Wireframes
As I translate paper sketches into digital wireframes, I spend more time thinking about how UI elements should fit on the screen.
Building a Scalable Design System
This was my first project developing a full-fledged design system, where I established reusable components, consistent visual patterns, and clear guidelines to support scalability across the platform.
